Trip Preparation

The trick to a successful trip is all in the planning and we take care of most of that! or if we don’t we can help. A trip planner will be sent to you before your trip but until then this guide will help you with the basics that you need to consider.

Documents

In advance of your cycling holiday experience, you will be sent a detailed itinerary along with the hotel addresses, telephone numbers and hotel vouchers for each leg of the tour. You will be sent a booklet with trip notes, providing information about your destination, including what to pack, where to visit, passport requirements, weather reports and other information.

Your Bikecation rep in the UK or (local partners abroad) will meet you with your route notes, maps, and bike (if hired) complete with accessories on the first evening/morning of your tour. GPX files may also be requested.

Getting to the start

If you need help on the best way to get to your destination, please speak to our travel consultants. They can advise you on the best international routes and on local transportation. If you have booked flights or other travel arrangements with us, you will be sent through a complete itinerary with all your travel details.

Passports,Visas and Health Conditions

It’s the responsibility of the client to make sure that passport and visas are valid for the trip. We recommend you check the World Travel guide for up to date advice at: http://www.worldtravelguide.net/destinations . This website will give you lots of information about visas, passports, local currency and other travel advice.

Please note most countries require you to have a passport which is valid for six months after the end of your trip. You will also find details of inoculations required for each country on this website. Please use this as a guide before seeking advice from your GP.

Insurance

We advise you to take out adequate insurance. If you are travelling abroad insurance should include cover against medical expenses, personal liability and loss of luggage, among other things. It is also important to cover yourself if travelling in the UK against cancellation etc. Not all insurance will cover sports: if you have annual travel insurance, please specifically check it covers cycling holidays. We can help with insurance: we have teamed up with Campbell Irvine to give you competitive policies with adequate cover for your cycling vacation. Please contact Campbell Irvine for a quote and then advise us of your policy details:
