The 2,229 metre high hors catégorie ascent of Arcalís is a classic in Andorra. Watch the great video by our friends at the Col Collective to really get a feel for the climb. It has been a summit finish at the Volta a Catalunya, Vuelta Espana and Tour de France.

The Climb in Detail

“One of the easier climbs in the area.” - Dan Martin, Pro Bike Rider (He's lying - Ed)

The Ascents

You can climb Arcalis from Ordino. It is the 3rd highest road in the Pyrenees. The climb starts by meandering up from Ordino. It is 18km from Ordino to the summit, but the climb really starts 10km from the top at the village of El Serrat, where there is a sustained period of 10-12% for 4 or 5 hairpins. After this there is a short rest before the hairpins return at about 7%, although it can feel harder than this as there is often a head wind at the top.
