The Ascents
There are three ascents to the summit of the Monte Baldo. The first two take more or less the same route, there is just an argument over where the climb starts! It sounds better if you do the full 26km from Caprino Veronese, so here at Bikecation we will call this the start. From here the climb rises steadily to the 12km mark from the town of Caprino Veronese. The steady gradient of about 6% winds through vine yards and past large italian farm houses, before it dips down. Here you meet the official local start and you climb again, steadily at first, before a second false summit, a few very steep kilometers and then a few kilometers further a steep pitch to the top.
The third and final way to attack the Monte Baldo is from the North from Platano. This is the route of the 2013 Giro d'Italia TT. 22km in length is has a steady start and then a siginificant palteau for 4km before a nasty kick to the end of 6km above 10%.
