Nice consists of two large bays, with the mountains of the Cote d' Azur, rising up from it's suburbs. The Cote d'Azur has some of the greatest and most famous roads in cycling. The Col de La Madone, made famous by Lance Armstrong, is an easy ride from Nice and many epic battles of the famous Paris-Nice race have taken place on the roads in the mountains to the north. You can ride the Col d'Eze, which traditionally features in the final stage of Paris-Nice as a time trial from the town centre!

The Pyrenees has some of the most well-known Cols of the Tour De France, including the Col du Tourmalet, Aspin, Aubisque, Luz Ardiden and the famous Hautacam.

There is no better place to ride your bike than in the French Alps. Long descents, hard climbs and following in the tyre tracks of your heros from the Tour de France. If you do nothing else as a bike rider, you must once ride the big mountains of the Alps.
