The largest and most popular of the Italian lakes, Lake Garda lies midway between Milan and Venice and can be reached easiest by Verona airport. It is the beating heart of northern Italy, with its collection of traditional towns and villages, glistening waters and dramatic mountain backdrop.

Monte Baldo is the highest peak around Lake Garda in which the road takes you up to the ski station at the summit. This is also the longest climb in the Verona area covering 25 km, with a difference in altitude of 1800m and with a maximum slope of 15%.

The riding around Lake Garda can be split into two contrasting terrains. The north of the Lake is dramatic, with mountainous landscapes, hillside villages and harbour towns lining the shore. The south is much flatter and wider but with a much more Mediterranean climate. 

Bike best times

Best time to go

Lake Garda can be visited most of the year, with a recommendation being Spring as to avoid the peak season summer rush of visitors that consumes the lake each year. To climb Monte Baldo it may be best to time your visit for the end of summer season.
