Cycling in the cotswolds is a fantastic way of seeing the glorious countryside at its best. Whether you’re planning a week-long trip or a short break away there is plenty to see and do.

 

Tetbury

With 1300 years of recorded history, the traditional Cotswolds town of Tetbury boasts a wealth of architectural heritage, including its iconic market house, built in 1655 in the heart of the town. From Tetbury climb the notorious Coombe Hill and Swifts Hill.

Chipping campden

The beautiful town of Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds is the perfect location for those wanting to explore the north of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by bike. Make sure you tackle the climbs of Snowshill and Round Hill when visiting.

If staying to the south of the Cotswolds be sure to climb Swifts Hill near Stroud which lifts you out of the Slad Valley. If you are visiting the north, the historic towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh are well worth a visit when out riding

The cycling in the Cotwolds can vary between rolling country lanes to steep, sharp but ultimately short climbs. It’s the perfect combination for good days out in the saddle whilst allowing time to visit the picturesque towns whilst stretching your legs

Best time to go

Visiting between April and October will extend the daylight hours you have for riding and will also be your best chance for decent weather. As the Cotswolds is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK its best to avoid July and August if you want a more peaceful ride
