With its tremendous scenery, generous hospitality and fantastic routes and climbs that can be ridden it is easy to see why more and more people are visiting Scotland and seeing it by bike.

Scotland

Cycling in Scotland is a fantastic way of seeing the glorious countryside at its best. Whether you’re planning a week-long trip or a short break away there is plenty to see and do.

Callander

The small and pretty town of Callander is situated on the River Teith in Stirling, Scotland. It has often been described as the gateway to the Highlands and offers visitors a chance to explore Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

Bike highlights

Route highlight

The summit of the classic Dukes Pass (named after the Duke of Montrose) is located 13 miles away from the centre of Callander. The more difficult side to ascend is from the village of Aberfoyle to the south of the pass

Bike difficulty

Difficulty level

Make sure you are prepared for long days in the saddle as you won’t have many route options to shorten your loops, but even though the routes are challenging the roads are rolling and certainly not mountainous

Bike best times

Best time to go

The weather in Scotland can always be changeable but it’s best to go between April and October to maximise daylight hours. If the weather is looking warm but damp be sure to take some midge spray
