The Road Book presents the Alpe d'Huez Raid with Ned Boulting

Thursday 20/06/2019 - Sunday 23/06/2019

Listen to Ned's anecdotes | Climb Alpe D'Huez | Live out the 2018 TDF climb | Signed copy of The Road Book

Drawing inspiration from Geraint Thomas' dominant show in yellow at the Tour in 2018, we will recreate the scene where G stamped his name well and truly in the history books.  Over this long weekend, you will stay in a luxurious chalet in Vaujany which will act as a base for three nights.  After a mise-en-scène with Ned on the first night, you will spend the next day taking on the most famous mountain road in the world and re-enacting Geraint Thomas’ glorious ride in the Tour along the 21 bends that is well and truly in Tour folklore.  After this fun day of tackling Alpe d’Huez you will rest your legs for the next day’s big ride.

The Queen Stage of the trip, on day two is a 123km ride where you will climb the Croix de Fer, Glandon and Lacets de Montvernier as you take on these mythical French mountains.

‘I’ve been to Alpe d’Huez so many times during the Tour de France. I call this “work”.

But this time, I’m simply going for fun! Can’t wait to take on those famous hairpins with you, while we relive the greatest race of Geraint Thomas’s life.’ - Ned Boulting

The group will be a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 people. We feel that this size of group works best as there will always be enough in the group for some good company but there won’t be so many people that it becomes overcrowded.

Chalet Saskia, Vaujany

Located in a picture postcard location in the French Alps, the whole luxury chalet will be ours to relax and unwind in each night.  The chalet host and chef will cater to our needs over the whole weekend.  Every day will start with a large breakfast and you will return each day to afternoon teas and stunning 4 – 7 course dinners from Chef Marcus (who has been with the chalet for 20 years) with stunning views of Romanche Valley.

Food & Drink

All your breakfasts, lunches and dinners are included in the price of the trip. Lunches will be provided each day in a cafe or restaurant or picnic lunches provided by the guides when the weather is good. Evening meals are provided at your accommodation .
