Finding a hotel in the Southern French Alps can be difficult. Many are small and or closed for the summer season. Below is our review of the hotels in the area. All the hotels have the below facilities for cyclists:

  • Secure bike storage
  • Flexibility on meal times

All the hotels we have chosen are unique and different:

Hotel Summary Picture Star rating

La Grand Aigle Hotel and Spa - Serre Chevalier - Briancon

A lovely Spa hotel at the foot of the western side of the Lauteret climb. The Galibier, Col du Montgenevre, Col d'Izoard and Risoul are all rideable from here. This hotel is our premier option if staying in this region.

4*

Parc Hotel - Briancon

Located in the centre of Briancon, with a pool and super friendly staff. The breakfast buffet will set you up well for a days riding. This is our value recomendation in Briancon.

3*

Grand Hotel de Valloire et du Galibier - Valloire

Valloire is a charming little Alpine village to stay in, but being at over 1500m, be sure to pack your climbing legs! there are no flat days with  the Galibier, Telegraph, Glandon, Croix de Fer and Alpe d'huez all reachable from here in a days ride.

The hotel is clean and modern with a charming alpine wood finish. It's one of our favourite places to stay in this part of the Alps.

3*

Hotel Le Faranchin - Villar-d'Arene

Located on the climb of the Lauteret, this rustic Hotel is perfectly located for those wanting a rural retreat.

4*

La Auberge - Allemond

- Coming soon! An excellent little Aubereg at the foot of the Croix de Fer. Contact us for more details.
