Cycling Holidays in Champagne

Situated in northeastern France, the name Champagne is synonymous with stylish luxury and decadent sumptuousness, and our cycling holidays in Champagne take you on a journey to experience the region’s rich history, culture and fine dining.
From Reims to Épernay, with its world famous vineyards, your route meanders through the naturalistic regional parcs, along the Veloroute of the Vallee de la Marne and bucolic wine paths. The villages along this valley route are charming and rustic, giving you a flavour of rural France, and you can experience the atmosphere as you pass through Dom Pérignon, Cathédrale Notre-Dame, Blanc de Blanc, and Montagne de Reims.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Reims

Discover the famous “great coronation city”, full of culture, with its cathédrale Notre Dame, one of the most major gothic art construction in Europe. Reims is particularly known for its numerous Art Déco districts typical of the 1920s.
An optional extra night can be arranged, along with a 50 km bike ride loop that will allow you to discover the Massif de St Thierry.

Day 2: Reims - Aÿ (50 km / 31 miles)

Ride round the Montagne de Reims following the prestigious touristic route of Champagne, passing by the wine villages of Rilly la Montagne, Verzenay and Bouzy. You will finish this first step with the impressive Véloroute of the Vallée de la Marne on the banks of the river, before reaching the village of Aÿ.

Day 3: Aÿ - Baulne en Brie or Reuilly Sauvigny (50 km / 31 miles)

Follow the Véloroute before stopping off at the village of the famous monk Dom Pérignon - Hautvillers. After a short rest, ride along the picturesque routes bordered by vineyard offering stunning panoramic views of the Vallée de la Marne, before reaching Baulne-en-Brie, one of the oldest villages of Champagne.

Day 4: Baulne en Brie or Reuilly Sauvigny - Vertus (55 km / 34 miles)

Take in the rich local heritage of the area. The gothic style abbey church of Orbais l’Abbaye or the renaissance castle of Montmort Lucy, as well as the charming town of Vertus, with its old architecture and buildings.

Day 5: Vertus - Epernay (30 km / 19 miles)

Cycle to Côte des Blancs. Pedal along some of the classified Grand Cru villages, surrounded by sloping vineyards, producing Chardonnay grapes. Discover beautiful, ancient villages nested between the vineyard and the lush forest - Avize, Cramant, and Mesnil-sur-Oger, before having a break at the small, atmospheric church of Chavot-Courcourt, before returning to Epernay.
