Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bayeux (51 km / 32 miles) - Loop

Take time to admire the amazing 11th century Bayeux Tapestry showing the conquest of England by William Duke of Normandy.

A loop to the landing beaches as Omaha beach. Have a walk into path of history on a sandy beach before reaching the American cemetery. Then continue the ride to the ‘Pointe du Hoc’ which was one of the strategic points in the German fortifications along the Normandy coast. Then, follow the seaside routes to Colleville sur mer and its very impressive American cemetery, before reaching Bayeux.

Day 2: Bayeux - Villers Bocage (40 km / 25 miles)

Enjoy the beautiful and small routes through the Bessin meandering around the picturesque lands and fields to the Abbey of Mondaye. Continuation to the village of Villers Bocage.

Day 3: Villers Bocage - Vire (46 km / 28 miles)

Keep cycling into the Norman Bocage, from small villages to green pastures before reaching the Souleuvre river. Here you will meet the imposing Viaduct dating from 1887. In this idyllic setting, why don’t you experience a bungy jumping? Then, the Voie Verte cycling path will lead you to Vire, a city rich of its mediaeval history.

Day 4: Vire - St Hilaire du Harcouët (55 km / 34 miles)

Leave the fortified city of Vire and follow the Voie Verte through the Norman green bocage: riding up and down rolling hills and small woods. Make a stop in Mortain nest by the side of a cliff, offering nice views over the cascade waterfalls and the valley. Continue to St Hilaire du Harcouët.

Day 5: St Hilaire du Harcouët - Pontorson / Mont St Michel (56 km / 35 miles)

Still on the peaceful ‘Voie Verte’, ride towards the Mont St Michel right in front of you! Enjoy this splendid and unforgettable view over the bay, with the salt marshes on the foreground and the ‘Occident Marvel’ which slowly appears on the background.

Day 6: Pontorson

Departure after breakfast.

Due to organisational reasons, weather conditions or provisions issued by local authorities, the itinerary may be subject to some changes before and/or during the holiday.
