Day 1: Arrive in Priego de Cordoba

Individual arrival. Built in the baroque style, Caltagirone is part of the famous Val di Noto, a UNESCO world heritage site. You will have time to prepare for your leisure cycling holiday in Spain, looking forward to your adventure by bike.

Day 2: Priego de Cordoba – Priego de Cordoba (20 km / 12 miles)

A short easy introductory ride today to become acquainted with our bikes, while we visit some of the local villages and hamlets, including Carcabuey and Zagrilla. Priego de Córdoba is one of the most beautiful Andalusian towns. It combines the picturesque whitewashed and geranium-bedecked old Arab quarter with several magnificent churches from the Dordoban Baroque period.

Day 3: Priego de Cordoba – Montefrio (44 km / 27 miles)

Today we ride through hills and olive trees towards the village of Montefrío. We’ve spectacular views of Priego as we ride, and then the most awe inspiring countryside en route to Montefrío. This was the last stronghold of the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabel, before their final conquest of Granada in 1492. Tonight's accommodation is a charming country inn 6 km from Montefrío.

Day 4: Montefrio  – Iznajar (48 km / 30 miles)

Leave Montefrío through more beautiful countryside and olive plantations towards Iznájar, a typical Arab village with its castle dominating the dramatic setting overlooking the blue waters of the Embalse de Iznájar. Our hotel is a typical Andalusian hacienda on the shores of the lake.

Day 5: Iznajar – Zuheros (48 km / 30 miles)

Today we ride around the Sierra Subbetica to the marvellous Moorish village of Zuheros, taken from the Arabic for rock - suhayra, with its ancient 9th century castle perched high above the surrounding countryside against the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Subbética. Accommodation in the charming and traditional Hotel Zuhayra.

Day 6: Zuheros

Today is a free day in Zuheros. Options include a via ferrata in the Bailón Canyon (16 July - 9 January), a visit to the Cave of the Bats, a walking tour to Bailón Canyon and the Cave of the Bats, a cycling roundride, or a trip to visit the marvellous city of Córdoba with its spectacular mosque.

Day 7: Zuheros – Priego de Cordoba (27 km / 17 miles or 36 km / 23 miles)

We return to our first hotel in Priego de Córdoba, with its swimming pool and superb facilities. There’s a  direct route, or alternatively we can cycle along the Vía Verde cycle path, past the Laguna del Salobral and small villages, including El Tarajal and Zagrilla Baja.

Day 8: Priego de Cordoba

Departure after breakfast.
