Annecy Routes

Annecy is a great place to ride your bike. It has a great flat ride on a car free cyclepath round the lake and big days in the mountains. A popular stop for the Tour de France, it is often described as the Venice of the Alps, or the gateway to the Alps. It is also only a short 45 minute transfer from Geneva airport, making it ideal for a weekend getaway.

Col de Aravais Loop - This is a big day in the saddle with over 2500m of elevation gain. It takes in the Col de Forclawz, an ever steepening climb to a parapont launch site with a great panoramic view of the lake. A fast descent ensures, and then jump on the cycle path all the way down the valley to Ugine. Here you swing left and begin climbing. Juist when you think that the top must be in site, you plateau and then there is a final 8km climb to the top of the Col de Aravais. Grab a coke with the cows, before descending down a few km's, taking a sharp left and climbing to the top of the Col de Fry, before a monster descent to the valley and the valley road back to Annecy.
