The best time to go to the French Alps is June to September. All the climbs usually open in April, but the weather can make riding challenging in May and any later than September and you risk snow on the high ground.

Itinerary - We can customise this trip for you!

Day 1: Arrive in Morzine

We recommend a morning flight. After arriving you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel in Morzine. You will have time to build your bike (or pick up your hire bike) and grab some lunch. In the afternoon we recommend you test your legs on the local iconic climb, the Col de Joux Plane from the Morzine side. This is the less famous side, but climbs up through the woods, steeply at first, and the lake is great for an inpromtu paddle if the weather is good.

Day 2: Col de Jambaz and Col de Joux Plane

This loop is a great day out for  those new to the big mountains. The Col de Jambaz and Col de Joux Plane from the more famous Samoens side are both tackled. There's even an optional extension ride up to lake and restaurants North of Morzine for those that stil have the legs. The ride itself is lumpy, but the only really steep bits come on the Col de Joux Plan.

Day 3: Ride to Switzerland

A longer ride, but much flatter. We recommend riding round Lake Geneva for lunch in Lausanne. Then take the ferry back to Evian and retrace your steps to Morzine.

Day 4: Departure day and the Col de Joux Verte

There is time for one final ride up to the Col de Joux Verte through the 'goat village' to the ski station of Avoriaz at the top.  We recommend you get an afternoon or evening flight. If you want to extend this trip, this is possible. Simply contact us.
