Girona, the capital of Catalunya sits on the River Onyar, with its medieval city centre and fashionable outer city regions, this is a destination that offers fantastic dining and cultural exploration. It is also the perfect base to explore Catalunya by bike. The area is steeped in road cycling lore. The Girona cycling area made famous by Lance Armstrong and his team US Postal in the early 2000’s, has a fantastic selection of well-known climbs within striking distance of the town centre. Made famous by the professional riders that have chosen to base themselves in the area for winter training, the classic climbs include, Rocacorba, Els Angels, Sant Hilari and the coastal climb of Sant Grau.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Spain
Arrive in Catalunya. A private transfer can be booked to take you directly to your hotel. Airport transfers can be arranged with a trailer for bike boxes.
Once at your hotel, you will have available time to set up your bikes, or if renting a bike, a representative will meet you with the bikes at the reception area and help set these up correctly.
An evening meal can be booked at the hotel. Alternatively, we can advise on restaurants in town.
Day 2: Ride 1 - Rocacorba
80 km, 1500 metres elevation
Day 3: Ride 2 - Sant Hilari
100 km, 1200 metres elevation

Day 4: Ride 3 - Sant Grau, coastal road
135 km, 2300 metres elevation

Day 5: Depart for the UK
Today you will be taken back by private transfer back to the airport for your return journey. Remember all our tours are bespoke and tailor made and we can alter any itinerary to suit you.
