The Marmotte Grand Fondo is known throughout the world for its fantastic ambiance, a melting pot of nationalities taking part and a course that takes you over a stunning and challenging Alpine route that includes the ascents of 4 legendary cols.

After the Tour de France the Marmotte Granfondo Alps is the most important tourist event of the summer in the French Alps. The organisation limits the number of available spots to 7500 with the majority of participants coming from abroad.

Participants of the Marmotte Granfondo Alps have often spent hours and hours on their bike training to be able to finish on the legendary course. It demands courage, dedication and determination to even attempt this challenge across Glandon, Télégraphe, Galibier and Alpe d’Huez.

Whether they are aiming for a certain time or just want to finish, every participant leaves Alpe d’Huez with a satisfying feeling knowing they have conquered the challenge.

The hardest day out on the bike I have ever had, but well worth it. - Mr G Evans
