Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain

Lloret de Mar is renowned for it’s beaches and is a small town on the Costa Brava with all the amenities and restaurants you could ever need. A place where cycling is more than just pedalling, recovering and pedalling! A place where you can feel the early morning breeze of the Mediterranean Sea, where you can challenge yourself to ride the hills that are as tough as they are beautiful, and where there is a great choice of accommodation. Popular with professional teams and riders, many of which live locally, it makes an ideal base for a cycling holiday.

Where to Ride?

The coast line near Lloret de Mar, gently undulates for km after km. Head inland and the riding gets more serious, with some great challenging hills to the North of Lloret de Mar.

Where to Stay?

There is a massive choice of bike friendly hotels in Lloret de Mar. You are spoilt for choice, and there is a hotel for every budget. If you prefer things a bit quieter, stay further out of town. Contact us for our personal recommendations.

Where to Eat?

Restaurant Sant Pere del Bosc is our choice for local food. Don’t miss the grilled prawns! This area is also known for its dried meats, sausages and cheese; these are available everywhere!

What to do, other than ride?

Other than cycling and spending time on the beach (Lloret beach and Fenals beach are our pick). Spend a day at the huge Water World, walk through the very pretty Sant Clotilde gardens, visit the colourfully decorated Parish Church of Sant Roma. or jump on a boat and head to the Santa Cristina Hermitage a beautiful small island. Snorkeling, stand-up-paddle boarding and boat based activities are all popular and also available from most beaches in the area. If you like your food, don't miss the Tuesday market either!

What Climb not to miss?

Don't miss climbing the Sant Grau

What you didn't know about Lloret de Mar?

Until the 15th century, the town’s centre was located one kilometre inland, next to the Chapel of Les Alegries (the town’s main church before the Church of Sant Roma was built). This was to protect itself from attacks from English, French, Turkish and Algerian pirates!
